mommanerd's original drabble. By the time I reached the "Are we there yet?" I thought I was going to lose it.

Title: Jasmine Tears (the Pang of Memory Remix)

Fandom/Characters: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel: the Series; Faith, Lorne
Why I chose this: Incredibly powerful. Great job of capturing the essence of both Lorne and Faith, of building up Faith's quest into this moment of exquisite vulnerability - something so rarely seen, yet in this story it is completely believable. Creative use of the OT.

Title: Tikkun Olam: The First Time (the She Blinded Me With Science Remix)

Why I chose this: I loved the mood she created in this story - thoughtful, tender, vulnerable. I'd never given much thought (try any thought) to what Fred and Willow might be like together. Here, it's quite natural, even as it surprises them a little bit.

Why I chose this: I think I saw this rec'ed already, but truly it needs to be a part of this category. Well written, plotty, creative use of tense and person to create then and now. And most of all? Powerful and moving.

Why I chose this: Her Simon's a bit more uptight and brittle than I think of him, but by the end, my heart's just going out to him as he's trying to navigate the space between being River's brother, savior, father, and jailer. I particularly love the way both River and Mal help Simon - in their own ways - start to get there.
