For me, picspams are a guilty pleasure. They present really great, interactive ways to have fun and engage with our fandom that takes us out of the realm of writing. The first entry on my list is easily the most hilarious thing I viewed all year:
1. International Phallic!Spike Day by
mere_ubu
If you're at all familiar with Mere's "work" (see doll!fic - a hoot and a half), she's got a certain kink for torturing her Spike and BtVS dolls. And by torture, that usually involves hilariously sexually explicit and compromising positions complete with disgrunteled word balloons by her unhappy dollies. This particular post features Spike toting phallic objects of many kinds. Don't forget to read the comments. Many people decided to celebrate with their own photos!
2. 15 heart-wrenching, soul destroying Buffy moments to make ou cry like a baby by
storyfootprints
I love angst and this post serves as a wonderful reminder of all those times you had to reach for your hanky and dry the tears that inevitably fell over the course of watching BtVS. There are a few notable moments that I felt didn't make the list, but many of them did. A wonderful post with animated screencaps to boot.
3. Hidden Spuffy Moments by
goldenusagi
This fall goldenusagi started posting a series of early season Spuffy caps with some unusual and entertaining details highlighted. Hidden touches, glances, and innuendo seemed to abound between Spike and Buffy! I'm especially a fan of the"Lover's Walk" post.
4. Fandom Members Dress as the Buffy Cast by
clawofcat
While cleaning out a closet just before Halloween, I came across an outfit that was the spitting image of Buffy's in the episode Get it Done. Donning the clothes and a lemon reamer-cum-stake, I posed as Buffy. This picspam than bred another where I dressed as Spike and invited others to do the same.
ssddgr and
blackoberst also joined in on the dress-up fun.
5. Pumpkin picspam by
girlpire
In keeping with her yearly tradition, girlpire carved a pumpkin featuring puppet!Angel on it. See the post for additional past carvings, including a really impressive Bangel pumpkin.
Although it's already been mentioned, I think it's worth repeating that
eowyn_315's investigative picspam of Spike's multiple crypt doors is fascinating and hilarious!

Date: 2009-01-04 01:50 am (UTC)unfortunately my Spike doll is still in its package. I'm afraid of losing his accoutrement in all the clutter!
Well, from a collector's POV, you gotta keep him in mint condition! Also, it's so much easier to keep an eye on him when he's trapped like an animal for your viewing pleasure. Mwahahaha.

Date: 2009-01-04 01:52 am (UTC)Oh, I'll bet you did, you harlot. Your picspams and doll!fic are the best!
You hang on tight to that delightful sense of humor, you hear? *squishy hugs*

Date: 2009-01-04 01:55 am (UTC)Who doesn't!? Too funny. I only wish there were more ridiculous posts when it came to fandom. Sometimes we take ourselves so seriously. Not like I'm one to throw stones. I like playing in my mire of angst.
Going to look at the rest!
Enjoy! ;)

Date: 2009-01-04 06:28 am (UTC)I sobbed like a baby at every one.
Even the Xander bit and (sorry to Xander lovers)I really hate him. *cough* I sorta love when his eye gets smooshed by Cap'n Tightpants. He was a jerk to Buffy way too many times - and I'm not feeling very forgivey. ;)
But man...
Anya asking why...

I'm an atheist like Joss and so much of the Body just resonated with me. The commentary was wonderful, too.
Re: Oh jeez...
Date: 2009-01-04 07:09 am (UTC)It was pretty aptly named, I'd say. Those were some awesomely angstful moments. There was definite toe-curling on my part.

Dude, I know! Most of these sad scenes I just feel bad, but that one I cry over every single time I see it.
One moment I thought should have been there was Buffy's tearful exchange to Tara at the end of Dead Things when she pleads, "I'm wrong. Tell me that I'm wrong, please. Oh please don't forgive me!" Christ, the look on SMG's face just guts me.
