One of my first LJ friends, and in fact the reason I ventured out here at all, is [livejournal.com profile] antennapedia. I have learned so much, and seen so many new possibilities from her writing. Here are my favorites from her numerous 2007 offerings, in no particular order:

Dust on His Hands from the Sky
Giles/Xander, FRM.
Summary: Xander flees to the place Scoobies go when they can't be near the Slayer any more. But the Hellmouth has a few last kicks in the gut to land before it's done with everyone.
Warnings: The aftermath of character death, suicide attempts, angst, hurt/comfort. Death of another major character (not Xander or Giles).

A grim but moving revision of Season 6.

An Antique Roman
Giles/Ethan, FRT, missing scene from Amends.
Summary: Ethan has his own opinion about what constitutes amends.

Ethan in this one is moving and spot on, and you want to cheer when he takes matters with Angel into his own hands. Plus the relationship between Giles and Ethan is so lovely and believable.

Fenrisulfr
Ethan/Dawn, FRM
Summary: Dawn escapes from a boring summer at the Hyperion by finding a summer job. The job isn't quite what it appears. That's okay: neither is Dawn.

A Soft Place to Land (Free Fallin' Remix)
Giles genfic, FRT - remix of [livejournal.com profile] nwhepcat's classic.
Summary: Giles wonders if he's achieved escape velocity. Probably not.

What struck me most about this was how it seemed a whole new story to me, and the original was one of my favorites in its own right. Giles' take on the same events is beautifully handled, and it's neat to see how well [livejournal.com profile] antennapedia captured [livejournal.com profile] nwhepcat's very different style.

Thusia
Giles/Buffy, FRM
Summary: Prophecy chases Buffy in the Los Angeles summer. Giles thinks he knows how they might elude it.

No idea how I missed this one at the time. Well, I think a certain green-eyed wizard might have had something to do with it. Regardless, I'm glad I found it now. You will be too.

I'm blushing to the tips of my ears, here. Thank you for the recs! I'm pretty happy with how these five stories came out, too.

It's wonderful to see people who are still so engaged with the verse. That's a lot of writing this year!
