As a Willow/Angel shipper of long standing, I thought I would share a list of five fics that could serve as great introductions to my favorite pairing. So here they are(in no particular order):
1) Title: Teacher's Pet Series
Author:
dragonydreams
Rating: NC-17
Why I chose this: This is a wonderfully charming and romantic tale (and hot, too) which posits a way for Angel and Willow to get together in Season Two. It's delightful in every way and really an ideal "first fic" for anyone wanting to explore this pairing.
2) Title: Worth It
Author:
emnorth
Rating: NC-17
Why I chose this: No list of Willow-centric fic would be complete without something from Em North. She's stupendous and easily one of the best there is. This tale is a crackerjack example of what makes her great. It explores what might have happened had Angel's deepest despair brought him back to Sunnydale in search of Willow. A must read, especially for those who like their angst...but tinged with something hopeful.
3) Title: The Ugly Duckling
Author:
emeraldswan
Rating: NC-17
Why I chose this: Despite this being a WIP, I still think it's too good to leave off this list. It explores the development of a relationship between Willow and Angel after he's moved to Los Angeles in a way that's really compelling for a new reader and is a must-read for long-time shippers as well. Be warned: there's angst. But don't let that stop you from reading this great story.
4) Title: Long Hard Road Out of Hell
Author: Claudia6913
Rating: NC-17
Why I chose this: If you're a dark fic fan, than this is definitely for you. The author left the fandom, but not before giving us a bleak and chilling look at an Angel who's not sure he's back from Hell and the unfortunate girl who falls prey to his delusions. If you like your dark fic dark, this is just the ticket.
5) Title: To Have and Have Not
Author:
emnorth
Rating: NC-17
Why I chose this: This is another Em North classic, but it actually isn't a Willow/Angel fic...except that it is. It's an angsty and sad and very, very well-written tale of what happens when Willow finds a way to secure Angel's soul - at a cost. Another must-read for newbie and shipper alike.
I hope this list encourages folks to give Willow/Angel a try.
