I'm a huge sucker for Spike and Dawn! I've always thought the two of them brought out things in each other that no one else did; and one of my biggest regrets for season 7 of BtVS is that we never got to see the two of them reconcile. So I'm a sucker for fic than lets me see them interact!

Do you promise me that the Spawn in "Odd Couple" isn't squicky - you know me and my Spawn reticence (though I love a well done Spike & Dawn friendship).

I've got "Affections like Ivy" and "Let Nothing You Dismay" bookmarked already, but hadn't seen the other two fics, which I shall check out forthwith.

Not squicky at all! I'm really not a fan of squicky spawn, and I genuinely enjoyed this one. And bigrstaffbunch is an excellent writer; funny and insightful. She's making a believer out of me. She also writes some of my favorite spuffy!

Great list. I was reading one of those and lost track of it.

The Spike and Dawn friendship was my absolute favorite thing in the show and in fic. I think the writers blew it by not continuing the friendship throughout season 6. It would have given them things to do with Dawn besides turning her into what so many saw as a whiny brat. Really. What 15-year-old with a super cool best friend/big brother/crush figure like Spike would stay away just because her lame big sister said so? Certainly not the Dawn we saw in season 5.

Preaching to the choir here! :D When I watched the DVD commentary on Bargaining they said they looked at Spike and Dawn, and decided that she was too old to be Spike's cute little best friend/ comrade in trouble-making. It was starting to look "shippy" (I paraphrase) so they made a conscious decision to avoid showing Spike and Dawn together. But we were supposed to assume their friendship continued "off screen"!

There just isn't enough Spike & Dawn in the world, and I fully support efforts to rectify that sad situation! We need more! :D
