My top 5 favorites in various categories.

We ain’t going anywhere but got suits and cases

1. Favorite Vid
Jesus Walks by mimesere – All – I haven’t seen many Gunn vids around but I have to admit, after seeing this one I have a hard time imagining someone’s done it better. Just gripping. I think it brings out the separateness and struggle of this character’s arc really well.


2. Favorite Graphic
Mine - by vamptastica - Teen – Made for “Shards” bysexymermaid. I love S/X, and this is a wonderfully done manip and a very sexy (though not explicit) image.

3. Favorite Drabble
Weighs Nothing: Five Lies That Connor’s Father Told Him - by kita0610 - All – Wonderful idea for a set of drabbles and insightful in each one.

4. Favorite Fic
My Life Closed Twice by anaross - NC-17 – I came to this story late, though I feel kind of lucky about that because it’s been posted all year long and just ended in November. I devoured this all in one day. I loved the poetry discussions and the way they were used to tell a story. I always enjoyed reading historical fiction because I’d learn something while enjoying a story and that certainly contributed to the appeal of this one. Plus I think it was an appropriately complicated reunion for Spike and Buffy. A good story, well told.

5. Favorite Site
Five Things Fanfic Archive - Started in January of 2006, this archive hosts stories that use the Five Things prompt. I single it out because I think the 5 things prompt often works very well in producing interesting character pieces and “what if”s and it’s a nice idea to gather these together. It would be good to see this grow.

I remember over the Classic Recs weekend we had quite a few 5 Things stories recced. It would be great to gather them together.

Glad you liked it! There isn't a lot of Connor written it seems, so I really enjoy it when writers capture him well.

That's great to hear. It's a wonderful idea for an archive and I wish it well. I know a number of 5 Things have been recced here but unfortunately the prompt type has never been used as a tag or I'd offer the tag link we have on the front page.

Very interesting choices. Loved the graphic and Kita's story. Adore Anaross' work. Bookmarked Five Things Fanfic Archive. Couldn't download the Gunn vid - unfortunately, the links don't work anymore! (where's my "sad" smiley?)

And - sorry for a nitpick - Anaross' fic is called My Life Closed Twice.

Good grief, yes. Thank you for pointing that out. (And I wouldn't call it nitpicky as it's kind of important to the story :>)

What a shame about the vid -- I know hosting space can be such a problem for vidders. Would you like me to set up a temporary link?

All these great comments on the vid whetted up my appetite. If it's difficult and requires a lot of efforts then don't bother. But if the vid exists on YouTube or if you can upload it on YouSendIt (RapidShare doesn't work in Russia) I'd be very grateful for a link.

Oh, thanks a lot! Unfortunately, my download manager Reget can't download the file right now - it writes that I have to install some add-on. And I need a computer-literate friend to do it. Hopefully my friend will be able to help me tomorrow. I'll write about my impressions as soon as I'll watch the vid - and thanks again for your effort!!

Finally I was able to download it - and it was definitely worth it. First, it absolutely looks like a professional video made by a professional director. Second, the vidder makes very unusual yet totally convincing logical links between scenes from different episodes and even different seasons and creates a very coherent story that encompasses Gunn's 5-years journey in several minutes.

My pleasure, hun. I'm glad you found it worth the effort. And I'm glad you mentioned the technical skill. My SO has trouble getting much meaning out of vids so he usually only really enjoys funny vids. But he was able to at least appreciate the skill that goes into making more complicated ones like this.
