Top 5 Spuffy wips completed in 2006

I have a love/hate relationship with wips - I love to get stuck in to a new fic, but always have the fear that it might not get finished and I'll be left hanging in awful suspense, never knowing what might have happened to all my favourite characters. Plus there's the fun of commenting on a fic chapter by chapter to offset against the pleasure of reading a whole new fic all in one go. So some of these I read piece by piece, and others I saved until they were complete. All were well worth it though. My favourite 'ship is Spuffy - it's the one I always return to even if I'm tempted by other pairings once in a while - and that's the main pairing in all these stories.



Angels & Demons

Fifth and final installment of talesofspike's "Spike's Will Be Done" series. Long, well written, plotty, romantic, sexy, tearjerking and funny, this is one of my favourite fics of all time, not just 2006. Started way back when, in May this year the 100th chapter was posted along with the words "The End" - a bittersweet moment for me, as I really wanted to see how it ended, but also wanted it to go on forever. I'm currently enjoying a complete re-read of the whole series.

When It Don't Come Easy

Author's synopsis: Going rapidly AU during the events of Entropy in BtVS S6, Spike makes a couple of wishes that will change everything. What is Buffy going to do when presented with a very different Spike—who doesn’t feel quite the same way about her anymore? Have to admit that I'm listing this one without yet having read it - it's one I've been saving to read until it was complete, and the last chapter was only posted on 28 December. enigmatic_blue is such a great writer that I have no qualms about including the fic.

In Fire and Blood

Author's synopsis: Story set in a universe similar to the one created by Cordelia's wish in season's 3 "The Wish". A fabulous story from kallysten, I greeted the posting of each chapter with great delight, as it brought me one step closer to being able to read the finished article. You need to read the warning she's posted though, as there is the death of a major character. As this is possibly the last Spike/Buffy/BtVS fic from kallysten as she's going to try and concentrate on her (still wonderful) original fic I felt it deserved a place in this list.

The Rest of My Life

Rating: PG13
Post NFA, with alternating Buffy and Spike pov, set mainly in Scotland but occasionally venturing to an alternate dimension and featuring various slayers an Angel/us or two and some interesting OCs.

Does It Have to Mean Something?

Author's Synopsis: Post-Angel Season 5, about a year after the events of "Not Fade Away." Buffy is living in Rome, she crosses paths with Spike, who happened to be there too for his own reasons... and then where do we go from here? An 'in between fic' - sequel to "Dirty Back Road" and has its own sequel "The Center", both of which were complete before this fic (and can be found at the same website). Angsty fic with no happily ever after (but don't forget there's the sequel).

Hee! More people should try it. Nice to see that some epic fic is still getting written.

As this is possibly the last Spike/Buffy/BtVS fic from kallysten as she's going to try and concentrate on her (still wonderful) original fic I felt it deserved a place in this list.

It's too bad her fic may be done (at least for a while). Good luck to her. It's always great to see fanfic writers do well with commercial fiction.

I adore In Fire and Blood and Does It Have to Mean Something? Like you I was was waiting the enigmaticblues' fic to be completed and I have't read it yet - but I was planning to read it soon. As to the other two fics, I wasn't aware of them and I'm very grateful for the tips.
