Top Five Buffy Vids

Here's five of my favorite vids this year.  They reflect my favorite character, Buffy, and my favorite pairing, Buffy/Spike.


1. Halo by darlapr0duction 
Song: "Halo" by Beyonce. 
"Everywhere I'm looking now, I'm surrounded by your embrace. Baby, I can see your halo, you know you're my saving grace."
The rarest of the rare - a Spuffy video from Buffy's POV that shows her faith and love for Spike.


2. Bachelorette by obsessive24 
Song:  "Bachelerotte" by Björk
Vidder's Summary: "In the shape of a girl."
This vid is sheer brilliance and makes a compelling argument for a girl's struggle against the patriarchy within the narrative of the Buffyverse.


3. Lucky Me by millylicious 
Song:  "Lucky Me" by Sarah Slean
Vidder's Summary: "Love sucked, this Buffy was certain of (Life is a cheesy romance novel)."
A delightfully fun look at Buffy's romantic relationships throughout the seven seasons.


4.  Stricken by beerbad 
Song:  "Stricken" by Disturbed
Vidder's Summary: "'I am stricken and can't let you go.'  My love letter to Buffy Summers, a semi-chronological look at her personal journey throughout the series." 
This vid's narrative shows the emotional journey of Buffy Summers and a defining characteristic - how she internalizes her pain, how she is "stricken and can't" let go.  By the end of the video, the viewer becomes the one "stricken" and not wanting to "let go" of the Buffyverse.


5. Effigy by effulgent_girl 
Song:  "Effigy" by Natalie Merchant
Vidder's Summary: "Spike and Buffy are two sides of the same coin; both a representation of each other. They're both strong on their own, but together they're a force to be reckoned with."
This vid is a beautiful piece of art that utilizes the black and white effect to highlight it's powerful story and conclusion.
