5 things that have impressed me greatly in 2006

Bit of a 'mixed bag' this one I'm afraid. I'm using it to tie up a few 'loose ends' as they represent fandom being creative but in a variatey of mediums.

1) Shotgun a video by zeronephilim

To start off with a highly recommend (and I can't say that strongly enough here) a superb Wesley oriented vid called Shotgun made by zeronephilim who sadly seemes to have left lj fandom, which is a huge shame considering how superb his work was. This brilliant vid gives us a glimpse into the life of 'gun toting f*cked up Wes', the version of this character that I love the most. The editing on this is just outstanding and serves to remind me what a complex tragic figure he made during the latter half of the show.

2)I want the Fire back by Zugma

Next onto a stunning piece of art that I think may have been mentioned before, but I just have to plug again due to it's superb quality. This piece of work and was created by the digital goddess Zugma. I've always been a big, big fan of her work, but I really think she outdid herself with this one because without going 'all technical' on you I know what went into creating this, and every time I look at it I'm just stunned.

3)Rockstar Spike a study by CantonHeroine

This is a different take on my beloved character, this time it's a beautifully hand painted portrait of 'Punk Spike' but imagine what he may have looked like in the early 1980's.

This is another piece of work that I just can't recommend highly enough, so do yourself a favour and have a 'look see'.

Another beautiful hand painted piece of art. A wonderful 'overview' of all the incarnations of Spike. Gorgeous.

5)Rising Sap: a Fairy Spangel ficlet by shapinglight

This is a really wonderfully funny affair from the talented pen of shapinglight which had me rolling about when I first read it. If you think that 'Fairy Spike' isn't your cup of tea, well try having a read of this and I'm sure she'll change your mind. *g*

And I hope folks will forgive me If I add a sixth entry here as a kind of 'bonus'. I know this fic is only being posted on a fl com' but anyone can apply to read it as long as they are over 18 a requirement for most adult com's such as darker_spike. Although the story is still presently being posted in daily installments on this journal, the whole thing was completed in 2006.

6)Coming of Age by glassdarklyuk (very NC17/Darkfic)

Setting: An AU, glass-darkly version of AtS season 5, though the plot also diverges in various places from points earlier in the series. Features Spike/Wesley Spike/Angel. If you are not into dark fic's or slave fic's then this one is definitely not for you!

This story may not be to everyones cup of tea, but as one of those who has already had the privilege of reading it all already, then I can tell you that it's one beautiful dark twisted 'ride'. Brilliantly written and contains all the wonderful little touches that people associate with her other stories. Highly recommended.
