Five Favorite WIPs - Regardless of Pairing

It's really difficult for me to (1) choose five favorites, and (2) limit that to material created this year, but here goes, in no special order:

Five of my Favorite WIPs Started in 2005 ~~~~~

Title: Violence of Existing
Creator: marenfic
Rating: NC-17
Warnings: Violence/gore, sexual content, nudity

Why I chose this: I love "what if" fic.... This fic answers the question: what if, after being resurrected from the dead, Buffy left Sunnydale. It's hot, it's deliciously plotty, and it's Wesley/Buffy and Angel/Buffy.

Title: Darla: The Series

Rating: MA, some chapters are NC-17
Warnings: Violence/gore, sexual content, nudity

Why I chose this: I love "what if" fic.... This fic answers the question: what if Darla is chosen as the new champion of TPTB? Series regulars include Darla (duh!), Lindsey, and Spike. I love the dialogue; I love the Darla/Spike and Darla/Lindsey and Lindsey&Spike connections.

Rating: MA/ NC-17

Why I chose this: I love "what if" fic.... This fic answers the question: what if Angelus escaped in S4 AtS, kidnapping Fred? I love the Angelus/Fred connection; it's interesting, new, and dark. The plot seems simple, but it's knotting up, as Angelus' really is shaper than we thought from S2 BtVs.

Title: Ransomed, Healed, Restored, Forgiven

Why I chose this: Anaross is one of my favorite fanfic writers. Spike/Faith is one of the pairings I enjoy reading. Post-NFA is one of my favorite settings. This fic has all three. It's novel-length, and it's near completion.

Title: Nothing Like Heroes

Why I chose this: Waxingthecat's fic is always inventive, original, and generally post-NFA. Her previous series paired Spike/Willow, with Spike as Watcher to a Slayer, set about 15-20 years post-NFA. This series is also post-NFA, and features Justine and Wesley, and I'm not gonna say another word, since the fun is not only in the dialogue and the writing and the delicious characterizations, but also in the inventive and original plot.
