5 Rare(ish( Pairings
Oct. 24th, 2018 06:52 pmIt's always fun to come across a story that pushes you out your comfort zone as far as ships are concerned. Here are five rare(ish) pairings - I say 'ish' because one isn't really, but it's so awesome I had to include it! *g*
In Nairobi in the Rain by inlovewithnight, Xander meets a strangely familiar girl in a Nairobi bar and realises it is Fred, who died a few weeks before. There’s just something about the atmosphere of this fic that haunts me - it’s just lovely.
twilightofmagic hasn’t been an active participant in fandom for a long time, which is sad because she is an awesome writer. A Grave Man is a great example of why she’s missed. This is D/s Wesley/Spike and my eyes definitely crossed when I read it again recently. There is bondage, punishment and boy sex, so be warned if that’s not your cup of cocoa.
A Tall Ship by
sam_arkand is one of my favourite fics, period. Xander is grieving the loss of Anya down Mexico way when Buffy turns up on his doorstep. I know that Xander/Buffy isn’t really a rare pairing, although rare enough, but I love this fic so much I had to include it.
Domestic Bliss by nomelon is Spike/Riley and I avoided it for the longest time because you know - Spike/Riley. But baudown talked me into it and I’m glad she did, because it’s great.
The Soft Darkness, The Dreamless Sleep by
lunabee34 is Xander/Ben and it’s a kick in the gut, beautifully delivered.
