Five Spander one-shots

lusciousxander asked for some Spander, and who am I to deny her. I know there’s been a Spander epics list already, so I thought I’d offer up a list of one-shots that maybe might have fallen off people’s radar.

First up is Prophecy by nasty_shrew. The language in this is so beautiful and the way it starts and the way it ends is perfect and so is everything else in between.


My lovely beta thismaz doesn’t write in the Buffy ‘verse anymore, but she still has some lovely S/X fic up on line. Talking About the Past finds Xander thinking about memories from the past and moving nervously towards his hopes of the future. It was lovely revisiting this one.

Take This Waltz by _dellamore is a hoot in a warped kind of a way. Xander sees the world with new eyes and goes calling on old friends. His Sire is less than happy.

And no S/X list would be complete without a contribution from AnnaS. I remember very clearly the first time I read her Untitled Vampire for Sale and it still has the same power now as it had back then. Wow, I wish I could write like this.

Finally there’s some drunken Spike, Xander friendship, sort of in Too Much Salt by waddis. I have to admit to an interest here as it was written for me as a birthday fic. This is just fun.

I enjoyed revisiting these so I hope there's something here for folks to enjoy.

Well, I've read 3 of these. Prophecy really is beautiful, and I was glad to be reminded to read it again. Take This Waltz is so skillful in the way it balances darkness and humor; plus the Xander voice is perfect. And of course, Anna S...well, no secret how I feel about her.

But I surprisingly haven't read the other two, and I'm looking forward to them, so thanks!

I think Untitled Vampire may have been one of the first fics I ever read on LJ. Wow, that seems a long time ago now.

I know. One of the joys of this community is revisiting things that hit you between the eyes at the time, and I remember when I read that, I just sat there going wow.

Yippie!!! Spander goodness! I've been reading so many classic Spander fics lately, and there are a couple on your list I haven't read so super duper yay!
