5 Great Spander Epics

This may have been the most difficult category to select from.

I didn’t track stories I like back when I first got heavy into Spander so I ended up skimming through a whole list of Spander epics. I do find it interesting that the Spander stories I like now are ones I either did keep track of or did recall once I started reading them.

These aren't out-and-out porn but it is Spander so expect some sex, that is, don't count on them being completely worksafe but they mostly are.

1. James and Wolfling’s Sands of Time - in season 1, Giles takes Xander in and his life changes completely. It’s just so great to see Xander have a wonderful life and then the courage it takes for him to save his friends in the end. This story rocks.

1. Yanagi_wa’s Ulterior Motives - Xander’s life takes an even more dramatic turn when, oops, Willow’s spell bonds him to the Master of the Hellmouth. I just reread the first 18 chapters in one sitting. ;-)


2. orchidluv’s Nothing the Same - Hmm, I’m sensing a theme with these stories I’ve picked: “nothing's ever gonna be the same.” *grin* This one I was thrilled to be rereading. I kept coming across scenes and as I recalled them I made happy squeaking noises. Really. I was glad I live alone.


3. Mad Poetesses’ Chocolately Goodness - one of my faves that I’d kept track of. I adore the banter and the characterizations are great. Here’s a sample: "Hey-- you...you...chocolate-stealing vampire guy. Where's my stash of Mounds?" Xander turned on Spike angrily, then thought twice. Where was the transition from "he's going to kill me, I must run" to "he stole my candy, I must yell at him" ? Did I miss it somewhere?


4. lazuli’s Manifestation - another I’d forgotten about that dramatically changes Xander’s life, this time before he hooks up with Spike. Xander’s a medium. Spike needs help with a prophecy. Another “Ah! I’ve totally read this before. Eee!” experience.

I think that can be part of the problem in that we've probably all read and seen so much at this point that the specifics of a lot of things we really enjoyed have slipped away. But at least we can remind one another!
