Some favorite crossover stories of the past year, arranged form shortest to longest.
All In A Day's Work by
beer_good_foamy (Buffy-centric, crossover with the song "Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots", PG-13).
To be fair, Buffy wasn't entirely sure how she was supposed to stop a giant robot about to attack Tokyo. But still, being told that someone else would handle it felt a bit weird.
Yes, it's crossover with a song. Yes, it works. Go read it!
Pieces of Mind by
aliceinkinkland (Willow-centric, crossover with Dollhouse; G).
Willow is being scouted by one of L.A.’s top tech companies—but they’re interested in more than her programming skills.
Willow, cute clever power-hungry nerd, always so eager to help. Like, with giving consultations on mind control...
A Messy Process by Bluspirit92 (Spike-centric, crossover with Mistborn book series; PG-13 - but it's pretty gruesome PG-13).
All you need to know about the "Mistborn" is that there is magic that allows to steal people's abilities by sticking metal spikes into them. Perfect crossover opportunity, isn't it?
Shelf Life by
beer_good_foamy (crossover with multiple novels and one fanfic, PG-13).
Giles' idea of selling some of his favourite novels at the Magic Box isn't just a bad business idea. When one of Willow's spells inevitably goes wrong, our heroes find themselves trapped in a series of classic novels. Now they have to be good little postmodernists and subvert the hell out of them to get out.
"Faith Lehane/Rodion Raskolnikov" in the list of pairings already suggested that I will love this story, but I couldn't even predict how much. It's just... damn, I can't stop laughing even from thinking about this story.
The Letters (the 84, Charing Cross Road remix) by
dragonyphoenix (Anya/Severus Snape, Harry Potter crossover, G).
A relationship in in letters, e-mails, and wedding invitations.
Clever and funny intertwining of both universes, with totally believable crack pairing and guest-starring Cordelia. (Both BtVS and Harry Potter verses don't even know how much they needed Cordelia.)
Story is also being uploaded on AO3, but on Jan 9 it's not fully archived there yet.
