thismaz: Xander/Anya. Xander overhears Anya talking in the Magic Box. Set early in season 6. Xander's insecurity shoots up when he hears Anya talking about him to a youngish looking man in a business suit. I found it really interesting that Xander couldn't hear what the man was saying in the beginning, only Anya's replies. I love this fic for the emotional roller-coaster Xander goes through - I can relate to those feelings very well.
Surfacing byonly_passenger: Xander/Buffy. Set between S6 and S7. Buffy and Xander finally talk about all the S6 crap with the addition of booze. Those are the rules: drink "like men at a poker game. All the dirty secrets come out." It's character-driven with Buffy empowerment and that last line. Perfect. God, I just love complexity of the Buffy/Xander relationship!
In the Bleak Midwinter byannakovsky: Xander/Dawn. Post-series. Nobody likes Christmas. Grown up Dawn all with the use of the F word joining Xander in Christmas hate-age. Both ordinary Scoobies at their most bitter and scornful. Now why couldn't Comics Xander/Dawn be this awesome?
Lilac City bynwhepcat: Xander/Faith. After the fall of Sunnydale, Xander resigned as the heart of the Scoobies, creating a solitary life away from the supernatural wars. He manages a supermarket in Spokane, stays sober, keeps to himself. But now, five years later, his quiet life is about to change forever, in ways he can't possibly imagine. I don't read a lot of Xander/Faith unless they're one shots and tend to deal with what happened in the episode Consequences. This is one of the best few long Xander/Faith fics I ever read.
Whatever It Means bysemby Xander/Willow. Post-series. Their relationship isn't what it used to be (you always hurt the one you love). I really, really enjoy those future Xander/Willow fics where they're not the sweet friends they used to be. So much baggage. So much bitterness. So much has happened that they can't go back being the innocent, loving childhood friends. This one just hurts. In a beautiful sad way.
