Five Dark and Creepy Classics for Halloween
1) Twitch (Spike/Xander) by The Spuzz:
This is one of the creepiest Spander tales you’ll ever read, with Spike at his most dark and obsessive. I’ve been haunted by it since the first time I ever read it and I am sure you will be too. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant.
2) Last One Standing (Willow/Angelus) by
kallie_kat:
An extremely dark and depraved tale that goes as black as black can be. Not for the fainthearted and heed the warnings, friends, because yes, there is noncon and torture here. But for those who don’t mind diving into the deep end, the reward is a wonderfully-crafted bit of horror.
3) Long Hard Road Out of Hell (Willow/Angel) by
claudia6913:
This one was actually written in response to a challenge I issued and… wow! The result is beautifully cruel and evil. It won quite a number of awards and there are excellent reasons for that. As ever, heed the noncon warnings, but if you proceed, you’ll find an excellent bit of darkness.
4) Plaything (Willow/Angelus/Spike) by
ash_carpenter:
Completely depraved and merciless, this one is another noncon-warning-laden tale, but the rewards are exactly what you could want – plenty of horrified shudders (mixed with bad!dirty!wrong to the nth degree). A perfectly debauched journey into the darker potential of the Buffyverse. Oh yeah!
5) Red Frame, White Light (Spike, Xander) by
sparrow2000:
I can’t have a dark rec list without this one. It isn’t as old as the other stories on this list but… years from now, people are still going to go back, read this one, and shudder. Delicate, spare, and chilling. Extraordinary.
