I think of livejournal as my fanfic center of the universe, but branching out from LJ can be rewarding as well. Fanfiction.net had many great stories posted in 2013. Here are five great stories from there (that weren't also posted to LJ as far as I know.)
1. Repercussions by Jinxgirl. Buffy, Faith, Angel. Rated T.
This is a gut-wrenching depiction of what would have happened if things had gone according to Buffy’s plan in Graduation Day, Part One.
2.
The Sun Won’t Rise by Mreeb, April, April/Warren, Rated K+
"I Was Made To Love You" from April the Robot’s perspective. Mreeb does a fantastic job with the April point of view, giving us a glimpse into a mind that's not completely mechanical and not completely human. It makes me wish that April had a better person as her creator.
3. Excuses Muffyn1 Buffy, Gen, Rated K+
A short, powerful examination of the excuses Buffy had to make as the Slayer.
4. Carpe Diem by Carta (ames). Buffy, Gen, Rated K.
A short character study. Buffy in Season 4 contemplates what being the Chosen One means to her, and how it affects the other aspects of her life.
5. Mist and Snow by santeria Ethan/Giles (unrequited) Rated K+
This is a beautiful Ethan/Giles drabble. The language and imagery really fits Ethan.
