So *my* January 31st is nearly at an end, as I live way over there on the other side of the world, and so I will finish with my Top 5 Communities. Some specific, some general, but the ones I have really enjoyed. Quite a few of my other favourite comms have been recced before, either in other posts or surreptitiously by myself. Hopefully these are some new to you ones!
darla_stillness
The icon community for one of my favourite characters, uh yeah, Darla. The challenges are always interesting, and the quality of icons made there often takes my breath away.
femslash_minis
I don't know what it is about the femslash genre per se, but it seems to produce some of the most interesting, adventurous and lyrical writing for me. It's always a pleasure to read fic produced in the bi-weekly to once-monthly challenges.
spikedawn
Although I don't tend to 'ship one couple over another, I have enjoyed this community a great deal this year. While the output is not overwhelmingly huge (usually one fic or artwork a week) the quality is always very high and very enjoyable.
watching_daily
My bible for all things Wesley related. I don't know how the maintainers keep up with all the Wesley-or-AD-output going on in the fandom but they do. And it is a joy for me.
writersresource
A great community for the writers out there - whether you're looking for a beta, a plot bunny, a sounding board on a character or theme or that tiny bit of minutiae from the shows (like what colour were Xander's socks in The Replacement for instance) that will help your fic along, this place will absolutely help.
