5 Season Three Buffy/Spike Fics

More early season S/B fun! However, the fact that Spike is only in one S3 episode made it a little tougher to find fic for this category. So, I cheated.

All Over It, by Nautibitz - More proof that the "Buffy and Spike have to have sex to save the world" genre really exists! Also of note, in a weird coincidence, this was originally written a few months before "Chosen" aired, but has Spike wearing a gaudy necklace as part of the world-saving ritual.



Captivated, by Nautibitz - It's a good thing for the anemic S3 Spuffy genre that Nauti exists, and that she's such a consistently delightful writer. Post-"Lover's Walk", Buffy and Spike find themselves in a bit of a predicament, thanks to the Mayor and Mr. Trick.

Unnamed S3-era Ficlet, by Poshcat - Spike catches Buffy doing something naughty.

Southern Comfort, by Holly - After graduation, Buffy is sent by Giles to hunt a demon in Louisiana, where she runs into some unexpected help.

When She Was Bad, by Julie Fortune - Okay, this is me cheating, because this isn't Spike/Buffy, though they are both in the story. This is gen fic, set in S3, and is so old-school that I had to use the Wayback Machine in order to find it. Buffy gets sucked into an alternate universe, where Drusilla is the slayer, Spike is a Watcher, and Buffy herself is known as a notorious vampire.

You're welcome! The author is now a professionally published writer under her real name, so I think she's understandably wary of people coming across her fanfic, but I'm glad it's still available via Wayaback Machine.

She also wrote a post-S2 story, News of My Death, that's also quite good and has a fair amount of Buffy and Spike interaction, though it's not at all shippy, but that story wasn't the right season for this list!

I have to say, there's a real dearth of good S3 fic out there, at least for Spike/Buffy fans! Which, I guess is understandable given the fact that Spike's only in the one episode, but I was still surprised at how hard it was to find things to rec!

Oh! The rarest of all Spuffy eras...

Thanks! I hadn't seen the Poshcat one, which is naturally quite delightful, and I'm looking forward to the Julie Fortune one. All the others I know to be wonderful. There is also an excellent Calypso Woodhaven S3 Spuffy one-shot, Ultimate Sin, that I saved before she took down her journal.
