Top Five Xander/Spike Fics 2010

orchidluv: Wow! Seriously, wow!! A long, thrilling epic! It's a rewrite of BtVS from S1 in which Jesse's death makes Xander curious about vampires. He doubts what Giles told him about Jesse being gone and replaced by a monster and starts studying and researching about vampires. The best part about this fic is how complex the characters are. There's no character bashing, just character flaws getting the best of characters, and it's nice reading the story from different, unreliable point of views. If you're a Spander fan and haven't read this, then shame on you. If you're not a Spander fan, then this is the story I recommend for you.

Note: The fic was first written in 2007 and completed in 2010. The second half of Book 4 was written in 2010.
2) Not Ready byslaymesoftly: An AU twist on the events after “The Gift” in which Xander and Spike end up being Dawn’s primary caretakers. I LOVE how slow the relationship between Xander and Spike develops. I love how the story focuses a lot on friendships, especially between the men and Dawn. I seriously recommend reading the first chapter of the sequel here.
3) Battling the Elements bybrutti_ma_buoni: Another alternate start to season six with Spike, Xander and Dawn. I really, really love the writing and how the writer gets Dawn and writes her like a mature woman. Wonderful depressing tale that ends with optimism.
4) Spectres bywhichclothes: Set sometime in S7. Spike and Xander go to investigate a haunted house. I have such a weakness for Xander/Spike fics during S7 and I especially love the surprise guest of a character I became to adore after reading S8. Best thing is that this fic has sequels (should be read in order) : The New Weirdness and then Repertoire and then Debt Collection.
5) Love Is More Thicker byseductivembrace: Xander hasn’t seen or heard from Spike in a year. Things would have stayed that way, but love – even if it had just been a spell – is hard to forget. Willow does something wrong. Again. And Xander deals with the consequences.
