I haven't noticed much Willow in this year's recs, so I figured I would step up and rectify that with a list of five Willow-fics I really enjoyed this year (all of which are not for the kiddies):
1) Sex 101 (Willow/Spike) by
purplefeen:
How would any Willow-centric list be complete without a fic from the inimitable Feen? And this deliciously naughty WIP is a corker. Anya plays fairy pornmother and manipulates an insecure Willow into asking Spike for sex lessons. In the meantime, she also has a side bet with Spike. Want to know more? Well you'll just have to read this tasty and terrific tale for yourself...so go do that right now! Then beg Feen for an update.
2) And Life (is like a song) (Willow/Oz) by
snowpuppies:
I'm not a big canon shipper, but I couldn't resist this charming and believable evocation of Willow's first time with Oz. Snowpuppies does a marvelous job of taking us inside Willow's head as she loses her virginity with the boy she loves. There's a sweetness and intimacy here that just draw you in.
3) Less and More Than Friends (Willow/Angel) by
lilbreck:
This sequel to Lilbreck's marvelous A Brief Courtship picks up when Angel has his soul back...but hasn't lost his counterpart's fascination with Willow. The lovely tinge of darkness is one of the many things that makes this story shine and I highly recommend it. Be warned, though, it's a WIP.
4) Porphyria's Lover (Willow/Angelus) by
staringiscaring:
This long-running, novel-length fic finally reached its conclusion in 2010, much to the enjoyment of we faithful readers who followed this dense and complex narrative from the beginning. If you like your fic plotty, it doesn't get a whole lot plottier than this. Give it a go!
5) Holding Her Own (Willow/Angelus, Willow/Tara) by
snogged
This AU of what would happen had a drug-freed Angelus made his way to Sunnydale instead of remaining in Los Angeles offers Willow some of her biggest challenges ever as well as a dangerous alternative first encounter with Rack. The battles are hard-fought and the ending definitely satisfies. Thank you,
snogged, for revisiting, rewriting, and finishing your early WIP version of this tale.
There was a lot of great Willow!fic this year and this list barely scratches the surface.
