I don't get plot bunnies much and find it hard to just sit down and do something. Structure and time constraints help me finish things. These sites help me focus.
whedonosity--icon contest every week. The talent level is so high that I don't worry about competing, I just learn by looking and trying out new things.
open_on_sunday--drabbles every Sunday. The prompts get you thinking of looking at things a different way and from different characters' points of view. I've been doing this one for a year and a half or so and it still makes me enthusiastic.
get_a_cape--a new icon contest for the lesser known characters in the Jossverse. For your Larrys, Merls, or the guy sitting next to Dawn in class. I'm looking forward to seeing people's new perspectives.
joss100--I signed up to write 100 ficlets about Justine. It's slow going because she's so angsty; I'm in awe of all of the other writers taking a character and just writing so much.
theatrical_muse--Not just a BtVS/Angel site, but you can adopt any character from the shows and the mods ask a question each week which you answer as that character. I'm Giles and Ethan and the essays and stories make me think about their backgrounds. There's a lot of role-playing opportunities if you're quick-witted, which I'm not.
I hope this hasn't come off as self-indulgent, but I wanted to share this and maybe introduce some people to places they didn't know about.
