Five Favourite Giles Fics
Nov. 1st, 2009 10:56 amThere are lots of great Giles fics out there and I recommend the
summer_of_giles community as a good place to look for them. The ones behind the cut are five particular favourites of mine.
Dancing in the Park, by
twilightofmagic Giles/Ethan NC17. A pre-series fic, in which a young carefree Giles and Ethan take a road trip and have an adventure that reveals their very different personalities.
Mission Accomplished by
beer_good_foamy, PG-13-R, Giles. I'm sure most people have read this, but if not, read it now. One of the best-written fanfics out there, in which, post-The Gift, Giles lays out Buffy's body. Heartbreaking, and all the more so because of the spare, lucid quality of the prose.
It Never Happened by
shadowscast, Spike/Giles, R. I love the Spike/Giles pairing, and this is one of my favourite Spike/Giles fics by one of my favourite fanfic writers. The characterisation is just brilliant.
Brass by Te, Spike/Giles/Ethan NC17. This is a very old story. Spike bumps into two wild young men in a bar in the 70s. It'll stay with you.
And finally, I couldn't not rec this again, although it's a WIP and sadly looks less and less like being completed. What there is of it is wonderful, though.
Broken English by
estepheia, 10 part WIP. Giles/Ethan R. Another Giles/Ethan road trip fic, but post-series this time. Lots of plotty goodness, plus some wonderful writing.
