I always try to do a crossover list every year so carrying on with that tradition here are five more classic crossovers that I love.
Spill by Miriam Heddy is a BTVS/Dresden Files crossover. To use the author’s summary “Bob and Harry take a road trip to help Spike and Xander deal with some very unmixy things on the Cleveland Hellmouth.” Harry is grumpy and confused, Bob is insightful and just a bit wistful and Spike and Xander are snarky and hot and sometimes just as confused as Harry. The whole thing is loads of fun and I should say that there is Spander slashy goodness just in case that’s not your thing, although most of it is off screen as it were. Also, given that the author has locked the story to AO3 members only, you can also find it at the Spander Files Spill (alternative location) if needed.
In Slayer of Interest by jedibuttercup, Finch is curious why the Machine keeps turning up certain numbers so when he discovers Buffy Summers is in New York visiting her sister he sends Reese to find out if she’s in danger. I wish there was more to this story as it’s got such tantalising potential, but it’s still a great ‘what if’ as it stands.
The Runaway Trains series by ChristinaK is a BTVS/Smallville crossover. In the first story both Clark and Dawn run into each other in a Denver bus station after they’ve both run away from home. Much bonding and eating of candy ensues. In the second story both Buffy and Martha Kent wonder why their respective phone bills are so high and why the hell are there so many calls to Kansas and California on them
Out of the Shadows by twilightofmagic (not on AO3) is a BTVS/Torchwood crossover in which Xander goes skinnydipping in Scotland and runs into one Captain John Hart. ToM hasn’t been active in fandom for years but I’m glad she left such lovely things behind for us all to enjoy. This is slash, baby.
Finally, I’m pretty sure this has been recced before, but with something so choc full of cracky goodness, it bears repeating. Ms Summers Goes to Washington by beer_good is a BTVS/West Wing crossover. It’s Big Block of Cheese Day and Buffy and co are in town looking for government funding. Josh and Leo may never be the same again.
