1. Moist and Delicious, by
rebcake
pre-series; Darla
In which Darla meets Jonathan Swift and inspires him to write a certain very famous essay. One of those cases where one of our vampires slides so neatly into history I can hardly believe she wasn't there.
2. Come Crashing Down, by
deird1
post-S5; Xander, ensemble
If you're looking for something deliciously dark and post-apocalyptic, you've come to the right place. One one hand there are all the fascinating hints of what's become of the world after Glory's portal failed to close; on the other is the string of personal tragedies this fic rests on. And then there's the ending, which is perfect.
3. The Beauty of the Stars, by
quinara
post-series; Buffy, Illyria
So Quin decided to write bodyswap. Then she decided to write Buffy&Illyria bodyswap. And then she decided it should be a poem. And the utterly unlikely Buffy&Illyria bodyswap poem that resulted absolutely blew me away.
4. Meme, by
beer_good_foamy
post-Chosen; Faith
"Buffy is setting up the new Slayer organisation when a bureaucratic mix-up kills Faith." Which turns out not to be so bad, really; it turns out there's quite a bit of freedom in being dead. A neat character sketch of Faith.
5. Battlefield of the Gods, by
bobthemole
vaguely post-everything; Glory, Illyria
Hellgods Illyria and Glory meet at a coffee shop to catch up and reminisce. This cannot possibly go well, and fortunately for us, it doesn't. Very, very funny.
