Those are all great and you're right about the Fallen Angels being a nice choice for Spike and Dru. The combination of Spike's chipped black polish and Dru's tarot cards reminds us of the whole characterizations of those two vampires.

I've always wondered what it would have been like to be introduced to them in real time. I came in at S4, so I actually saw the first 3 seasons several years later. Even so their intro to the series was striking to me -- I loved them at once.

The very first episode of Buffy I watched was School Hard . From the moment that car crashed into the Welcome to Sunnydale sign, you just knew something special was happening. And then when Spike's face changed at the sound of the footsteps of Dru "shivers with memory".

I watched from the very first episode but I was royally spoiled, because Russian TV started airing BtVS in fall of 1999. After School Hard I quickly checked the episode guides to make sure that Spike and Dru will reappear - and discovered that Spike has already become a regular! It was a pleasant surprise, but, at the same time, I stopped worrying that he could be dusted.
