Scenes from Another Perspective

The Joss!verse is peopled (or "creatured") with lots of characters with their own motivation and dreams. Here are a few fics that tell a part of their stories.

Snyku Shorts (Snyder, Joyce, Giles) by [livejournal.com profile] brutti_ma_buoni
http://community.livejournal.com/still_grrr/726684.html#cutid1
The events of Band Candy through Snyder’s eyes, in haiku. Hai-larious! G

One Friday Night (Spike, Willie, Buffy) by [livejournal.com profile] winsomeone
http://winsomeone.livejournal.com/76699.html
A Willie’s-eye-view of a badly beaten Spike and the Slayer. Part of the tension is not knowing when this story is set. Shhh. PG

Family Matters (Spike, OCs from the Barb!verse) by [livejournal.com profile] rahirah (Barb C)
http://community.livejournal.com/plot_wout_porn/1948.html
Two runaways meet, but as their fathers attempt to retrieve them, it becomes clear that nobody can understand your family from the outside. PG

Bureaucracy (OCs) by [livejournal.com profile] deird1
http://deird1.livejournal.com/138470.html
Two conflicting vengeance wishes against Parker Abrams lead to a bureaucratic nightmare in Arashmahar. PG

Procrastination (Larry, Jonathan) by [livejournal.com profile] snickfic
http://snickfic.livejournal.com/21244.html
On the eve of graduation, one Sunnydale High student considers his future. PG

Bonus:

Curse you, FOX, for tricking me thrice!
(Joss, Buffy) by [livejournal.com profile] angearia

http://angearia.livejournal.com/80829.html
The ultimate alternate POV! The Creator urges his uncooperative creation to do his bidding. We’ve all been there. PG

Aw, thank you for the rec! I confess, I'm inordinately fond of that particular drabble - it's not something I ever dreamed I'd write.

Ooo nifty list! I love Snickfic's drabble. *sniffles* And Deird's Bureaucracy is wonderful fun.

And your description of "Curse you" is inspired. See how you're aces at summaries? Proof positive. (Seriously, how would you summarize TYSK? Because I think your summary would be better than mine.)

Although I think I might just borrow my own words for Season 8 and fit them to it:

"An epic fairytale of lovers reunited amidst a world shrouded in lies and betrayal."

What a great idea, and what a great list! I've read several of these and loved them all. Off to check out the ones I missed!

Oh, what a great list! I read only one of the stories you rec and I'm looking forward to the rest of them!

Ooh, I like [livejournal.com profile] snickfic's drabble, which is new to me.

Of course, thank you for the Snyku rec too - I love those poetic yet weaselly lines.

That's very sweet of you! I don't know about [livejournal.com profile] deird1 but for me, coming late to fandom makes it seem less enticing to ship in a big way, and more to try and write round the edges of what's gone before. I mean, I do do both, but Spuffy is well catered for - 'Snyder is a person too' fic is a little less frequent!

Agreed.

With all the big ships, there are thousands of stories already. I want to do something different.

These all sound really neat! I'd read the Barb one, but not the others.

brilliant idea for a list and awesome that the authors were exploring these perspectives!!

I forgot to add that you might enjoy these (http://forum.slayalive.com/index.cgi?board=scribes&action=display&thread=9668), Rebcake. I ran an Outsider POV writing challenge at SlayAlive and some of the entries are so entertaining. One is from the POV of Buffy's neighbor who thinks they're all crazy. Another is from a waitress who meets Oz in a cafe - it's wonderful seeing Oz through her eyes.

I'd love to hear what you think of them! Enjoy!
