But when Buffy's romance with Angel takes a dark and dangerous turn, Robin determines his assistance won't be enough, and calls in some back up of his own: the old family friend who wears his mother's coat.

Takes place in an alternate universe in which Buffy isn't the Slayer (yet), just a girl with rotten luck. Spike is still an evil vampire with a big black car, leather jacket, and the capacity to be much more than just a demon.

Summary by javajunkie247: 20 years ago Sunnydale became a crater on the map. Buffy has since discovered she is immortal due to Willows spell that slayerized the potentials. But without Spike, she's completely given up on love. Until she's granted permission by the PTB to go back and change everything. The catch? She can only choose one full day out of each individual year of her life on the Hellmouth. With only seven days, can she successfully alter her fate?
-- I love that Sunalso and OffYourBird took the same basic plot and wrote two different stories that are both original and very worth a read. It's fun to watch for the similarities and differences in how they handled the prompt.
