Five Super Fics From Which Willow
This year's
whichwillow ficathon elicited truly superb fiction from the participating authors, so choosing just five was sort of arbitrary. But these were especially swell by my way of thinking:
1) Equinox (Willow/Angel; PG-13) by
snowpuppies: Yes indeed - Snowy has written her very first Willow/Angel fic and it's a ring-tailed boomer. In a dystopian future, Willow and Angel find themselves on opposite sides but soon meet in the grey middle. What happens between them and how this tale ends are involving and affecting in every way.
2) Regrets and Mistakes (Their Memories Made) (Willow/Parker; NC-17) by
snogged: You read the pairing right. This is indeed a Willow/Parker tale, though not a romantic one. Set during Beer Bad, it posits what might have happened if Willow had let her insecurities and distress over Oz's fascination with Veruca lead her to make some very different choices when confronted by the slick womanizer who already bedded and abandoned her best friend. Not a happy story and you're lef with the knowledge that what happens after will be even worse.
3) Beyond World's End (Willow, Buffy; PG-13) by
brutti_ma_buoni: There's not much I can say about this tale without spoiling the read, but this is a heart-wrenching look at what happens when all you have left is friendship - literally.
4) Compulsion (Willow/Dracula; PG-13) by
aaronlisa: How can you resist a "what might have been" between two characters who had barely any interaction in canon? This is an interesting take on the possibilities of Willow and Dracula and well worth a read.
5) Tears Dry on Their Own (Willow, Giles; PG) by
dragonydreams: A touching story which fills in the blanks right after Jenny Calendar's murder as we see Willow coping with being asked to teach her classes. The evocation of Willow and Giles's friendship is lovely.
