Spuffy WIPs posted or updated in 2020

I don't usually read WIPs, but I am making an exception for these ones, because they're just so good or because I know they're going to be good. I may be cheating a bit here, as several of the WIPs in this list were not started in 2020, but since they all got updated this year I think it still counts. To compensate, two of them are REALLY recent.

The Darkling (E) by Offyourbird: a huge fic that I started reading some time last year when I thought it was almost finished... But now, it should really almost be there. Time travel, show rewrite (in a good way!), great Scooby dynamics, what's not to love?

(k)Nickers Off Ready When I Come Home (E) by stuffandnonsense (stuffnonsense): Buffy and Spike are finally together again after having been just friends for a long time post-Chosen, and as they have matured a lot they are re-establishing intimacy through a lot of open and honest communication (which is actually very sexy).

Ex Magic (M) by Cheetoh aka bookishy: branches off from canon halfway through S7. Buffy has rescued Spike from The First, but he's not healing properly. Now she's going to try a dubious spell... Interesting premise, great character voices, can't wait to see what happens next!

Unfavorable Odds (M) by Cheetoh: an action/adventure story inspired by the Hunger Games. There's only a first chapter so far (posted last Thursday!), but that one is already really great even though the action has hardly started yet. It is written from the perspective of one of Glory's minions and is making me hunger for more :-)

The Blue Eye of the Storm (T for now) by MaggieLaFey (fra_apples): another S7 veering off canon fic. Buffy and Spike enter a portal under the vineyard and get trapped in another dimension. It's only a prologue so far, but I love MaggieLaFey's stories so I'm not worried about including it here with so little to go on!

Another fic I had meant to include in this WIP Top 5 is Prisoners of Love, Blue Skies Above (E) by bewildered (bewilde): Buffy and Spike have to pretend they are married, for reasons, and it's hilarious, sexy and romantic (even though they both try to pretend it's not). Unfortunately, this fic is only available to registered users  (same on Elysian Fields), so I decided to drop it and replace it with the WIP MaggieLaFey obligingly started posting yesterday :-)

Yes it does! Started or continued :) Plus, as we are open in October it's really anything since the last session.

First of all, WOW that you've already included me in this rec list with just a few hundred words published.
Secondly, DOUBLE WOW that I'm taking BEWILDERED's place!! Prisoners of Love is probably my n.1 favourite fanfic ever, so, like, I am squeeing right now.

Ha ha, sorry about the pressure! To be honest, I needed a replacement fic and yours came just in time -- but I wouldn't have included it if I didn't have high hopes for it :-)

I think it's great when a WiP grabs you so much that you are willing to break your own rules about only reading complete fics - that says so much about the quality of the stories in question.

Exactly! And also that I remember to be on the lookout for updates -- I only manage to keep track of ongoing stories if they really grab me.

Seconding "The Darkling" and "(K)nickers Off Ready When I Come Home" (and Prisoners, obviously) like whoa and adding some of the others to my creaking EF bookshelf :)
