Five Wonderful Willow Fics

I do this every year, so why break with tradition? Here are five amazing stories that feature Willow as a central figure.

1) Sewing the Seeds (missing scene from The Beating of the Bounds) (Willow, The Tailor) by [livejournal.com profile] sparrow2000: If all this does is get you to read the incredible The Beating of the Bounds, a Xander-centric AU of superlative depth and artistry, then my work is done. But this tale - featuring Willow - has its own brilliance and needs to be appreciated on its own terms. It's subtle and deceptively prosaic but look beneath its smooth surface and the depths are churning. Join me in ordering Sparrow to write more Willow. She has a knack for it.

2) The Killer in Me (the Tough Love remix) (Willow/Spike) by [livejournal.com profile] snogged: This is a corker. What would happen, we wonder, if Willow's assault on Glory had been successful? This story explores that premise in compelling depth and leaves you with questions about victory and vengeance and the costs of both. Excellent work from an always-excellent writer.

3) some springrolls with those nachos (Willow, Sheila) by [livejournal.com profile] kwritten: What would the coming out scene between Willow and her mother have been like, we wonder as we have wondered for the longest time. Well, now we need wonder no more, because [livejournal.com profile] kwritten gives us her superbly believable take on this what-we-should-have-been-shown, complete with the awkwardness and the incompleteness that we all know there would have been. This is a marvelous slice of life.

4) On Behalf of the Innocent (Willow) by [livejournal.com profile] spuffy_luvr: Willow's search for a magical mentor is explored in a story that has traces of both the comic and potentially dark and doesn't disappoint in the slightest with its spot-on characterization. I'll just say that her search takes her from bulletin boards to the internet. To tell you more would be to spoil the fun. So go read. You'll be glad you did.

5) This Moment (Willow, mentions Willow/Tara) by [livejournal.com profile] feliciacraft: This wouldn't be a list from me without some serious emotional pain happening somewhere and here's where you'll find it. This story of Willow's first return visit to the bedroom she once shared with the now deceased Tara packs a gut-punch and makes you feel every bit of the grief and anguish Willow endures. You undoubtedly know this author for her superb Spuffy, but she branches out here and shows that she's got the goods to write anyone.

Okay, there's my first list for this session. Hopefully I'll be back with more soon.

I loved Kwritten story focusing on the relationship between Willow and her mother. So bittersweet. Looking foward to read the other stories!

Absolutely! I wouldn't be grudgy just because I'm not in the list! XD I'm really curious to read these stories. Like I said in other posts, these days I'm interested only in the ladies-centric stories, when it comes to BtVS, and I'm glad you made a Willow list because Willow is interesting.

Awesome list. I'm especially interested in the one with Willow's mother. *will read it right now*

Thank you for including me, Gabrielle! I must've soaked up some good Willow from reading your stories.

(Speaking of which, I need to get my act together and get my recs out before time runs out!)

Wow, to be included on your Willow lists is amazing. If you like my Willow I know I must be doing something half right. :)

Thank you so much for the rec, hon, I'm really thrilled to be in such wonderful company and I look forward to catching up with the stories I haven't come across yet.

Just read several of these and found myself thinking that 3 and 4 tied together rather well.
