5 Great New Communities

1. [livejournal.com profile] tamingthemuse is probably one of my favorite communities. It is steadily growing as the secret gets out about this tight knit community of writers who use a prompt each week to produce work in a timely manner.

2. [livejournal.com profile] fandom_of_stars an award site for everyone. Readers. Friends. Artists and writers too.

3. [livejournal.com profile] historicalslash is multi fandom but has so far had a lot of early BTVS/ATS involvement. It's part of the new wave of BTVS communities which welcome multi fandom people since many of us now write and read in more than Buffydom. I was impressed in the work in setting this up. *not worksafe community and you have to be an adult to join.

4. [livejournal.com profile] spuffy_haven really seems to be *the* community for spuffy links for art and fic lately. Started by some new, passionate shippers, it's a great community.

5. [livejournal.com profile] feedmykink is based on 'you scratch mine and I'll scratch yours.' Lots of fun!

Thanks, honey! When [livejournal.com profile] girlpire and I decided to start [livejournal.com profile] feedmykink, we were pretty worried that it would be just the two of us requesting and writing for each other. Which would have been pretty lonely, since neither of us get much time to write lately. But it's been pretty good so far.

But then you would know a thing or three about communities - wouldn't you? *winks*

Thanks for saying so.

I'm really just trying to resist one of the prompts which insists on singing to me... and there's some great stuff over there, so you should be really proud of that comm!

See - and all I want to do is tell you to give in! We'd love to see a little bit of your work over there.

That's the wonderful thing about claiming an idea - a lot of the work's already done for you. And really the whole idea was for the requests to be picked up and turned into one-shots catering specifically to the requestor's kinks. Though quite a few seem to have turned into multi-part fics. For myself, I intend to continue claiming things that can be porny, kinky little one-shots.

And thanks so much for the kind words. It was a little bit of a struggle to get it going, but it's been fun so far - and I've been able to find some interesting new writers. I've even been reading a few pairings and kinks I'd never given a try before.

My problem is that I'm not good at one shots. I mean, I'm thinking...

What will Duncan do when he finds out about Spike's past.

How will William handle Spike's past

Do the Watchers and the Watchers council know about each other.

How long would it take Duncan to have sex without feeling like he's taking advantage of William

How long would it take for William to get over his Victorian morals and admit he's lusty for Duncan.

AHHHHHHHHHHH
Yep, this would be an epic.

*glares at liliaeth*

Actually I do know what you mean - and I've certainly skipped over some requests there in favor of others because I couldn't imagine doing it in a one shot. I hope to only ever do one shots with the things I pick from there.

Wow, I had not heard of historicalslash at all. Those specialized multifannish communities can be really useful for fic posting because they may bring in a whole new audience. But between time travel fics and Fanged Four fics there's certainly a good bit of it that can get written in this verse.

Goodness, I bookmarked every single one of these to seriously look into when I have time. Great, great ideas, all of them. Thanks so much for bringing them to the group's attention!

P.S. How's the writing going these days? I'm currently wishing for a way to stop the clock so that I can get back to fic reading, especially yours!
