RIP slayerfanfic.com - Top 5

I used to hang out at the now sadly defunct slayerfanfic.com. The site went down without warning and a lot of good stories were lost, but I’ve kept track of some of the people who used to post there. Here are some salvaged 2006 favourites, ranging from comedy to deep introspective, although more of the former than the latter:

Alex Wert’s “Operation: Get Into Buffy’s Pants” is the Buffy/Willow fic to end all Buffy/Willow fics. Irreverent, meta, cute, outrageously funny and just enough over the top to not end up as parody.
Quote: "I used Faith's 'A' material and not so much as a batted eyelash from her. All I got was," insert passable Buffy impression here, "’Hey Wills! Check out this A/C unit I got. Pretty sweet, huh? 2.8 kilowatts and it only cost 200 Euros. Umm, what's a kilowatt?’ I may as well be trying to pick up the Pope."

Timan’s ”Apparition” is a delightful... I guess “romp” is the word. Early season Scooby fun, at least if your idea of “fun” includes “Xander getting killed and having to deal with being a ghost while tracking down the necromancer responsible for stealing his body at the same time that he’s caught in a love triangle between a sassy female ghost and Willow”. I know mine does.
Quote: “It’s real simple mate. All you have to say is ‘Spike you are more better then me in everyway’.”
“That’s not even good grammar.”

Serrafina, formerly known as MissEdith, has a long-standing but still ticking WIP called “Big Sister”, essentially a rewrite of s4 that starts when Faith, after being stabbed by Buffy, pushes Buffy the other way... off the roof and into a coma.
Quote: “The Slayer?” I hazarded weakly.
She saw my confusion and she laughed. “I knew it. I knew you can’t tell where one stops and the other begins.” Her brow furrowed. “Gee, maybe you’ve got brain damage.”

And then, two fics about the ever-funny concept of bodily transformations.

Gopie wrote “Vampire Days” and almost killed me dead with laughter. Evil Wesley tries to take over the world! With sharp claws! And the help of his slave Lindsey! Except... he really likes tuna and catnip.
Quote: “Release me, human.” Came the tiny commanding voice.
“Hey, Wes can talk!” Fred said happily.

Axel Osbourne might need a beta. If you can get past that, he’s one of the funniest fic writers I’ve read. He’s currently reposting his “Pretty Much A Girly Name”, so hurry up and get in on that right from the beginning; you don’t really want to miss what happens when Angel gets turned into...
Quote: "Ladies, please," said Wes, which got him a dirty look from Angel, "I mean lady, and Angel. This isn't helping. Willow, as I was saying, You know it's not right to leave Angel like this."
"Right" said Willow, "Because being a woman is a fate worse than death."
"Hey" said Angel, "I don't want to stay this way. I'm supposed to be a man. How would you like it if you woke up a man?"
"Yeah, that wasn't fun."

I’d also rec Adam the Red’s “Walking in Fear”, except it was originally written in 2005, so it doesn’t count, does it? Pity. It’s the start of the best series I’ve ever read, but not many people have read it.

Hi, there. I've never heard of any of these fics and they sound terrific. Can't wait to read them. They sound hilarious.

Five fic's I haven't read - that's nice to see. They all look like fun stories, and I'll definitely be checking some of them out. Thanks for posting.

What a great idea for a list. There's so many archives and sites that are now gone, it's nice to see that people can still get to some of the work. Thanks for posting this.

What a good idea! I hadn't read any of these before, and so far they're great! I particularly like Kitty! Wes.

You aren't kidding about Axle Osbourne. He has great ideas and good imagry, but I just want to go fix his grammar and word choice!
