femslash_minis has been around since 2005, and has led to hundreds of Jossverse stories being written. The pairings range from the popular to extraordinarily rare, and the tone of the stories runs the gamut from the lightest of fluff to the pitch-dark. Here are five classic stories from femslash_minis that I liked:
Salt on a Briar Rose by
voleuse, Willow/Illyria, PG-13. Willow and Illyria exploring L.A., post-NFA apocalypse. Both women's voices are perfect, and there's more beauty and warmth than you'd expect under those circumstances.
On a completely different note,
Something Gay by
electra126, Anya/Cordelia, R-ish, takes a difficult pairing and makes it work (both on the "what common ground would they have" and the logistics of getting these two together) in hilarious fashion.
Slayer on a Mission by
cmk418 Kendra/Faith, PG-13, also takes a logistically-difficult pairing and comes up with a simple AU solution to bring them together. I really liked this look at a Kendra who's had the opportunity to soften a bit, and her dynamic with Faith is entertaining.
Grandmother's House by
doyle_sb4 Buffy/Illyria, PG-13, offers a fascinating, disturbing look into the mind of Illyria, her connection to Buffy, and the near future for both of them.
It wouldn't be a femslash_minis rec post without at least one Buffy/Faith story, and my choice is
Oh, Little Sister by
carlyinrome. Buffy/Faith, PG-13. Faith's the senior slayer, and that makes all the difference in an AU Season 3. The Faith voice here is as tender and irreverent as it should be.
