Final Hour (10th CHOSEN anniversary) by narvinek - OMG, I keep rewatching this new version and I keep comparing it to the old one and, yes, they're pretty different, the focus here is more tightly on Buffy but I really can't choose which one I like best... *_*

OMG, before reading it I really thought that WWF was the worse episode of the 5th season (what with that submarine nonsense and the bonus scene of Wes, Fred and Gunn making their token appearence on those chairs and all) but your meta totally changed(/blew) my mind! It's actually - not the sign of a great episode if you need a primer to figure it out? :D BUT. It made total sense to me when I first watched it, so I figured I would share my sense-making with the world. Because I'm old and know stuff that the young people may not know.

Also, I checked out your profile and I see that you're also into Avengers/SHIELD fandom, so I'm friending you. Hope that's ok.

Ack! I was going to add fray's vid to my own list - I snooze I lose!

I always love rec lists that are "non fix" rec lists, and I've never seen one that "mixes it up" so creatively like you have here; except for fray's vid all of this material is new to me!

ETA: Buffy-centric vids are my crack cocaine anyway but I just watched narvinek's vid and - DAMN! I'm ranking that right up there with Afterthebattle's tribute video as an all-time favorites. Just superb.

Part of why I love the BT5 - this round so far in particular (and the Sunnydale Herald) is that it contradicts the "this fandom is dead!" proclamations I read now and again. HELL NO - I've been in this fandom less than two years and it's alive and kicking (ass); it's just scattered across the internet and I have to make a real effort to find it and get out of my little LJ cocoon. There's a world of creativity and discussion out there for a show that went off the air ten years ago.

Oh, and Final Hour is totally among my favorite Buffy-centric vids! Together with Buffy Epic Trailer by MytubePr0ductions, Crawling in my skin by xTeenageWastelandx, No Longer Feels Like Home by SpuffyProductions and the classic masterpieces Polaroid Millenium by Gwyneth Rhys, Five on the Dime by Shati and Suburbia by dualbunny.

No Longer Feels Like Home and Suburbia are two of my all-time favorites, the rest are new to me so THANK YOU! (No Longer Feels Like Home was one of the first two fanvids in this fandom I saw, along with obsessive24's "Bachelorette".)

I noticed that the first one, the epic trailer, is posted by someone else on their own YouTube, which seems weird to me; it's not the same thing as posting a link to the original source.

Oh, I have Windows and I watch them all fine. Possibly it's a Mac problem? Or maybe it's the program you're using? BTW, I use VLC, which opens practically everything, and there's a MAC version too. ;)

You're probably right that it's a mac problem. (And ironically with the new super-duper state of the art operating system there are vids I can't watch now that I was able to on my '08 Mac.) I have downloaded VLC so I'll try using that instead thanks for the suggestion.

I don't recall from last year (because my memory is horrible) but nearly every post this time around is filled with things and artists I've never heard of. Its easy to get very insular in one's "own" corner of fandom.

I enjoy finding bits of things on tumblr now and again and ZERO interest in having an account. I don't get the point of it - it consists entirely of reblogging and liking? I want to have CONVERSATIONS with people, that's why I got into this fandom, to talk about the show.

Maybe I've just got an old brain, but tumblr and twitter make no sense to me.

Maybe I shouldn't say "old brain", maybe it's just a difference in how one's brain functions or - IDK. Smidge has apparently mastered the art of tweeting this past year, but if you've ever watched her in interviews she's like a stand-up comedian, constantly talking, rapid-fire (her husband apparently calls her "hyper". Heh.) So maybe it just suits her brain.

I just stare at tweets and wonder "Who are you talking to?" What are you referring to here? And if we can't have a substantive conversation what the hell is the point? Ugh.
