Top 5 Old School Giles fics

1. Of Old Mystics by Wolfling & Magpie (Ethan/Giles)
This fic is like a finely woven tapestry. Sure, there's much epic-scale plot and action (really, the best use of magic in a fic BAR-NONE), but there's also incredible attention to detail and individual plot threads. It has a host of truly amazing original characters as well as bringing fine insight and colour to ones we already thought we knew while, I think, staying true to the spirit of what we saw of them in the series. Although I never thought I'd gush about an Ethan characterization, this is truly one of the best fics I've ever read and I can't say enough good about it, but I'll stop now, so you can check it out.

2. The Something More Series by Nickle (Giles/Cordelia)
(The official winner for toughest fic to find!) OK, I'm obviously a cracked-out pervert psycho, but this is one of my fav het fics (and weirdly, enough, pairings) ever... so sue me!

3. Snips and Snails by Gileswench (Giles/Buffy)
Buffy and a cute magically-regressed 6 year old Giles. Some angst, but, basically, too much schmoop to handle :-)

4. Fast Forward to a few Years Later by Realmitzvah(Giles/Xander)
OK, I know it's squicky to a lot of people, but I absoloutely looove a good Giles/Xander fic (this is a future fic, so not sooo squicky) and since they're pretty rare, I voraciously devour them in almost all forms, but THIS one is my absoloute fav! It's funny, angsty, schmoopy and sweet in all the right places. *sighs*

5. [livejournal.com profile] fallen_watchers by [livejournal.com profile] _rupert_giles & [livejournal.com profile] _wes_pryce_ (Wesley/Giles RPG)
Here's an RPG done by people who really 'get' their roles and are wonderful enough to take their time about world-building. Sure, it's AU, but the relationship between these two is just too charming to miss.

Thanks for the rec! I've always been kind of proud of Snips and Snails and Puppy Dog Tails (yes, I know, it's a stupidly long title, but I do that sometimes).
