Five more of my favourite Gen fics from 2015

Well, I said that I would probably have to do a second set of Gen recs, because there had been so much good stuff last year, so here it is.

Letters Never Sent (the Crumpled Sheets Remix) by nothorse just killed me. Xander tries to write to Jesse’s parents. I defy you not to at least sniffle a bit with this one. This is a remix of texanfan’s equally great Lonely Burden.


Talking of remixes, I have to mention aadler’s Phantom 309 (the Ghost That You Can’t See Remix). Xander’s life has gone through some changes, especially after he runs into Marcie Ross. I really enjoyed the characterisation in this story, as well as the story itself. This is a remix of More Than Air by sunnyd_lite

Unwrapping by brutti_ma_buoni was written for the spook_me ficathon and is Spike and Dru at their most glittering and twisted. This is just wonderful.

il_mio_capitano always gives great Giles and she does so again in White Out. Giles is walking home through the snow – what could possibly go wrong. This is a deceptively simple fic, but I really enjoyed the progression of mood and the ending is just awesome.

And finally another Giles story, Rank Outsiders by ljs for summer_of_giles. Giles needs a specific book and one Lindsey MacDonald has the only copy and they just have to meet in a demon bar. I really like that this is Giles showing his rougher side to Lindsey’s Mr Oh So Smooth.
