buffyversetop5I made sure with the mod that is it okay to post Firefly fic recs here, and Mal/Simon is my OTP in this fandom; though if you haven't seen the series of course this isn't going to mean anything to you. *g*
1. Things That Haunt Us by emungere - this is my alltime favorite Firefly series. All of her fic is great, but this series takes the cake as far as I'm concerned. When I'm in the mood for angst with a happy ending, this is the one I pull out. She manages to write Simon as a strong and independent personality, instead of just a 'pushy bottom', which I really get tired of.
2. None So Blind by blackeyedgirl - this is one of the first Firefly fics I ever read, and it's still one of my favorites. She handles each character flawlessly, and every single one has a role in this story. It also has plot and a heist, which doesn't seem to happen too often in this fandom's slash.
3. Dangerous Cargo by Nestra - this is the only Firefly fic I've found by this author, which is a real shame. The characterizations are spot-on, and Wash especially is beautifully handled (which is so rare in a slash fic when he isn't involved.*g*) It's funny and sexy without being too romantic or sappy, which does get a bit old after a while.

woodsong_1978 - the link that I gave is to this author's fic index, but Postludes is right on top; she takes canon and writes the in-between stories, giving it a beautiful Mal/Simon twist. The story continues in Repairs and the WIP Fair Trade; I know for a fact she's working on chapter 9 of FT, but don't expect an ending any time soon. *g*
5. Black Market Honey, also bywoodsong_1978 - this is an AU set in 1940's England in the middle of WWII. Mal is the captain of the bomber Serenity and Simon is a doctor at the base they are stationed at. It is beautiful and smutty and gorgeous. AU's are rare in this fandom for some reason, so I felt justified in posting it here.
